PhD Candidate

Iris obtained her bachelor’s  and master’s degree Biomedical Sciences at the Radboudumc University in Nijmegen, where she primarily focused on disease-related molecular biology, with a special interest in immunology and stem cell technology.

After her final internship, where she worked on the development of a cerebral organoid model to study a neurodevelopmental disorder, she started working as a scientific researchers in the field of rheumatology, and completed a project on a molecular marker for innate immune cells in osteoarthritis.

In 2023, she joined the Applied Stem Cell Technologies group as a PhD candidate to work on the Heart Engine project, where she is focussing on the development of multi-layered cardiac organoids using a high-throughput microfluidic system.
