Corné van Dam

PhD Candidate

Corné obtained this bachelor Biomedical Sciences with honours at Utrecht University. After an extracurricular internship at the UMC Utrecht and the Karl August University of Göttingen, he continued with his master’s Biology of Disease in Utrecht focusing on cardiovascular diseases. During his master’s, he investigated circadian rhythms and doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in hiPSC-CMs  (UMC Utrecht) and PLN and LMNA cardiomyopathies in engineered heart tissues (University of Twente).

In September 2024, Corné started his PhD at AST continuing the research on PLN and LMNA. The focus of his PhD will be on modeling genetic cardiomyopathies in the EHT platform. By increasing our knowledge about disease mechanisms, investigating new treatments, and diving into patient-relevant questions, he ultimately aims to improve patient care.
