Dilara Koç

PhD Candidate

Dilara is a 1st year PhD student and she is from Turkey. Dilara holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and a Master of Science with a focus on Neurodegenerative Diseases, both from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey. Her undergraduate studies concentrated on nanoparticle delivery systems, stem cell culture, and Trk receptor signaling pathways. During her master’s program, she explored the molecular mechanisms of Botulinum neurotoxin, developed therapeutic strategies against it, and investigated sex-specific differences in Multiple Sclerosis using patient-derived oligodendrocytes. Additionally, she delved into the signaling mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease models.

Currently, Dilara is pursuing a PhD at the University of Twente under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Kerensa Broersen, focusing on validation of synaptic connectivity of gut-brain axis on microfluidic chip.
